In The Silent and the Lost, we saw the caliber of book that judges are always hoping to see. It was a rare book, a powerful book, a very moving book. It makes you feel a full range of emotions. There even comes a point where it makes you so angry, you need to put it down.
It was certainly a challenging read, but its very much worth the effort - once you finish it, you feel like you have gained something. When you get that feeling, you know that you’ve just read a really good book.
