Title: Inside the Giant Machine: An Amazon.com Story
Author: Kalpanik S.
Reviewer: Adam Zion
At first glance, this looked to be a dry description of information
systems at Amazon.com. First glances were wrong, however: this was
actually a rather entertaining look at information systems at
Amazon.com. The book is entertainingly written, especially as it
describes both the internal culture at Amazon.com and the anonymous
author's own life outside of it. The main shortcoming of the book is
that it seems to jump overly quickly from the author's initial
enthusiasm with Amazon.com to his disillusionment with and departure
from the company, without describing enough of why thing happened.
